ACQUISITION OF POWER PLANTS TO ADDRESS EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY FROM THE NATIONAL POWER GRID
The National Metallurgical Development Centre (NMDC), Jos, is a research institution that utilises sensitive research equipment for the conduct of its research and development work.
Epileptic power supply from the national grid causes loss of calibration on research equipment, leading to inaccurate test results and could even cause damage to this equipment. These are very expensive equipment that are difficult to replace, not to talk of the loss of credibility that will arise from unreliable research work.
In order to address this issue, the Centre acquired stand-by power systems to serve as follows:
- 500KVA Mikano Power Generator: For pilot plants and heavy machines;
- 30KVA Automatic Mikano Power Generator: For security lights in the night, the Conference Hall and some research facilities;
- 10KVA solar Power Plant: To complement power from the National Grid and make power available 24/7 at the Corporate Building. With the provision of these power systems, the Centre has been carrying out its research activities without any problems attributable to power requirements.read more...
